Saracina Vineyards - modern eco-friendly winery
Presented by Citi.

Family-owned, Certified California Sustainable

OVERVIEW
Join us for a special tasting with Saracina Vineyards. At Saracina, their modern, eco-friendly tasting room and winery facility blend comfortably into the natural landscape. Saracina’s openness and unspoiled yet well-tended beauty are unique in Mendocino County, as are its wine caves, the first of their kind in the county dug out of solid rock over a two-year period.

Saracina is a Certified California Sustainable (CSWA) winery and vineyard located in Hopland, in the southern part of Mendocino County about 30 miles north of Healdsburg.

SARACINA STORY
A 400-acre ranch that includes a winery and sustainably farmed vineyards, Saracina is also home to 140-year-old olive trees, vegetable gardens, beehives, and all manner of bird and wild animal life.
The handcrafted, limited production Saracina wines reflect a conscious sense of this beautiful estate in Mendocino County.
Saracina cultivates 40 acres of vineyards on six different parcels. The soils vary greatly from rocky to black clay and gravelly loam, allowing for the cultivation of numerous varieties including Chardonnay, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah.

MEET THE WINEMAKER
A native of Toronto Canada, Alex caught the “wine bug” in a bar just after college.
Eventually obtained a sommelier certificate, and worked as a sommelier assisting Canada’s only Master in Wine (MW) at the time, and then spent a year traveling the wine regions of France, Spain, New Zealand and Australia.
At that point, Alex knew he had to make wine. Ten years later he joined the Saracina team as its first winemaker.
