Series of webinars: Polish Talk – Mondays with JHI
Meeting with Dr. Agnieszka Witkowska-Krych
The lecture will be devoted to the legend that shreds the figure of Janusz Korczak (born as Henryk Goldszmit), who was a Jewish writer, doctor, but first and foremost a pedagogue and the director of the Jewish orphanage called "The House of Orphans", established in 1912 in Warsaw. Korczak is known for his decision of not leaving his charges at the moment of deportation from the Warsaw Ghetto to the Treblinka death camp. In light of testimonies and other data, Agnieszka Witkowska-Krych will reconstruct the most possible chain of events and will comment on the long-running and most popular narration about the last moments of Korczak's life.
