Japan’s gender gap is by far the largest among all advanced economies and has widened over the past year according to the World Economic Forum's 2020 Gender Gap Report which ranks Japan 121st out of 153 countries on the Gender Gap Index. Kyoto University reports a 3-to-1 male-to-female ratio for undergraduates and graduate students currently enrolled. How does Kyoto University plan to combat this systemic gender gap issue? Join Kyoko Inagaki, EVP for Gender Equality, International Affairs, Public Relations, and External Affairs, and Nobel Laureate Professor Shinya Yamanaka, Director of the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) as they discuss their personal and professional experiences addressing gender inequality, engaging further with the international community, and creating potential paths to keep Kyoto University moving forward.
