Sustainability & Transparency - Transforming the Textile Supply Chains
Sustainability is more important than ever before in the textiles and fashion industry. It is becoming more than a “must-have” and is now a distinctive advantage for textile business operations. The textile supply chains are now witnessing a period of the ever-growing demand for supply chain transparency and traceability. The brand and retailers have to demonstrate their achievements on their environmental credentials which need to be backed by science-based goals.

With new technologies, precision agriculture, and rigorous fair labor practices, U.S. cotton has led the way to a greener, kinder world for years. COTTON USA and SUPIMA are organizing a webinar on July 29, 2021, in association with Fibre2Fashion on "Sustainability & Transparency - Transforming the Textile Supply Chains.” The U.S. cotton industry is building upon the strong environmental gains already achieved over the past 35 years. The aim is to help members meet their current needs while making the world a better place for future generations. Through the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, U.S. cotton has set out to create a new standard that brings quantifiable and verifiable goals and measurements to the issue of more sustainable cotton production. The objective is to drive continuous measurable improvement in key sustainability metrics towards 2025 U.S. cotton national goals.

India is amongst the largest users of Supima. What makes Supima unique to other cotton is the extra-long staple fiber that gives the cotton its premium properties: strength, softness, and color retention. Supima’s family of cotton growers are in the vanguard of innovation using and developing some of the most technologically advanced agricultural processes available. The farming practices employed set environmental and ethical standards for cotton around the world. Supima is able to authenticate its cotton across the entire supply from the fiber and yarn to the fabric and finished product at retail.
