Martha Eddy, RSMT, CMA, DEP, MFLCI, EdD in movement science, is an author, researcher, performer and Ferraro Fellow for Social Justice and Dance at Marymount Manhattan College where she advises the Body, Science and Motion that prepares students for graduate studies in medicine and the allied medical fields, dance therapy, psychology and somatic movement therapy and education. Her book Mindful Movement: the Evolution of the Somatic Arts and Conscious Action addresses the new field of somatic movement education and therapy – which physically engages in the body-mind-emotional connection through conscious movement. Dr. Eddy has received the Komen Race for the Cure Founders Award for designing Moving For Life programming and establishing it as a non-profit organization. MFL has a two-decade history of offering free wellness programs to the cancer prevention and recovery community which is now also supported by the Department for the Aging in New York City.
