Dave's last webinar of the spring season will be an in-depth look at how to sail fast and smart in light air and heavy air. This series will explain how speed, strategy and tactics vary according to wind pressure. It's a perfect course for any sailor who wants to get better in light or heavy wind because a) they sail in that condition a lot, or b) they don't have many chances to practice in that condition.
The sessions are on Mondays in May and June, except for Part 2 which is on a Tuesday. They begin at 7:30 pm US EDT (GMT -4).
May 23 LIGHT AIR - Speed
May 31 HEAVY AIR - Speed
June 06 LIGHT AIR - Tactics & Strategy
June 13 HEAVY AIR - Tactics & Strategy
In the first two sessions we'll look at how to sail fast in light and heavy air, including what's different between the two, and why. In parts 3 and 4 we'll look at strategy and tactics and how these are greatly influenced by wind speed. Specific topics include determining strategic priorities, identifying and evaluating wind shadows, the cost of tacking and jibing, managing windward helm, weight placement, heel angle, ideal sail shape (e.g. twist, depth, and much more.
The content is geared to all types of boats for both skippers and crews, both upwind and downwind.
The series will be led by Dave Dellenbaugh. The sessions are about 90 minutes each and include video, quizzes, photos, diagrams, charts, etc. The price of $55 (same as last two years) includes all four live sessions, plus 1) free study material sent to you before each session; 2) a link to a document with all the series' Q&As; and 3) unlimited access to REPLAYS of all four webinars (in case you miss any or just want to review them).
