UK/IRE | The Human Exposome [Part 3 - Mitochondria]
Exposure to harmful chemicals can be found everywhere you go—in the workplace, outdoor environment, and even in your home.

While we are aware of the more obvious offenders, such as chemicals, biological hazards and carcinogens, we are also unknowingly exposed to some less obvious toxins that contaminate the air we breathe and the water we drink.

The complete set of these exposures has been named the exposome, and its interactions with the human genome has been linked to chronic illnesses, non-communicable diseases, and accelerated ageing.

Join us for Part 3 of our Exposome webinar series, as we focus on the mitochondria. We will look in depth at how harmful chemicals damage the mitochondria, how it stops mitochondria from re-generating and the downstream effects of mitochondria depletion.

Topics to be covered:
- How mitochondria function
- How PGC-1α proteins regulate mitochondria
- How harmful chemicals deplete mitochondria
- How mitochondria depletion accelerates ageing
- How new therapies restore mitochondria
