This event on EU citizens’ rights is aimed at those who work in local government (elected members and officers). It will also be of value to those who support and advise EU citizens and groups using local government services. It will therefore also be relevant to many NGOs, EU citizens’ rights groups, community groups and other third sector organisations.
This free training session will:
- Outline briefly the overall scheme to give EU citizens’ rights in the UK after the end of the transitional period on 31 December 2020
- Describe the future rights of EU citizens to access key public services in Scotland eg housing, benefits, education
- Explain aspects of the settled status scheme of particular relevance to local government eg the position of children in care, and care leavers, and other vulnerable people.
Information will be given about organisations which can provide advice and support on these issues, as well as links to relevant guidance, documents and websites.
