Sustainable Sector: David Cook, Cook Creative
We are delighted to present a new series of webinars, 'Sustainable Sector', focusing on different routes to a more sustainable model in arts organisations. With each webinar, we will also screen an interview with an NI cultural leader to talk about their experiences of the funding ecology, capacity, collaboration and co-creation, and what a sustainable organisational model—and moreover a sustainable cultural sector—would look like to them.

For the final webinar of the series we will be joined by David Cook, Managing Director of Cook Creative. A social entrepreneur, business manager and Chartered Surveyor, David specialises in culture-led regeneration, particularly devising and delivering cultural capital projects. In 2014, he was awarded EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 Scotland.

In the last 25 years, he has raised and invested £20m+ in public and private sector capital, creating award winning cultural buildings. including South Block, winner of the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland 2013. Through this investment he took Wasps Artists' Studios out of crippling debt and transformed it into one of the largest organisations of its type in Europe, supporting 1,000 creative people each year and reaching almost 25,000 people annually across the country.

He has also led many other cultural, heritage and third sector organisations at board level.

Cook Creative helps creative organisations and social enterprises with business change and property development. It is not a traditional consultancy; their view is that it’s not just about writing reports. It’s about providing practical, hands on support, mentoring and guidance to help steer organisations through substantial change or the challenging process of capital development.

As part this event, we will also be screening an interview with Stephen Kelly, Creative Director of c21 Theatre Company.

This is a free event and will last around 90 minutes.
