PTSD – A guide for General Practitioners
The Hills Private Hospital and Windsor Road Private Clinic invites General Practitioners and Healthcare Professionals to attend this live, online and interactive meeting presented by Psychiatrists - Dr Susheel Manambrakkat and Dr Jaspreet Singh.

This update has been developed with a GP focus in order to expand the understanding of early diagnostic and management strategies for patients presenting with signs and symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Psychiatrists with extensive experience in this subspecialty will review and examine evidence, patient case studies and the available diagnostic and treatment options available to General Practitioners and their patients. This activity will guide GPs through the early identification of PTSD and the most current recommendations for pharmacological and psychological intervention.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Make a diagnosis of PTSD and differentiate it from conditions with similar symptoms.
2. Obtain a history in a sensitive manner and obtain sensitive information.
3. Identify risk factors for developing PTSD
4. Commence appropriate pharmacotherapy and refer for appropriate Psychological and Psychiatric therapy

A silver medalist in MBBS, his passion drove him to take up psychiatry training in the internationally renowned Post Graduate Institutes of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India, where he completed his initial training and conducted clinically relevant research. He is a member of the AHPRA and a fellow of the RANZCP and has worked as a consultant psychiatrist at various public hospitals both in regional and metropolitan NSW. Dr Singh’s special interests include: Bipolar disorders, ADHD, Borderline Personality, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Substance abuse and Dual diagnosis presentation.

Dr Ramanathan (Ram) Ganapathy has over 20 years of experience in the field of psychiatry . He completed basic & specialist training in psychiatry in the UK. He was successful in obtaining his Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists . He was been successful in completing his tenure as Clinical Director and Medical Superintendent at Blacktown Mental Health Services, Sydney. He has additional responsibilities as Senior Staff Specialist in Psychiatry within the public health settings.
