Akele is Head of Equity Partnerships at Lantern, the leading on-demand cannabis e-commerce marketplace and home delivery platform in the U.S., where he leads the company’s business incubators and social equity initiatives. He is also co-founder and CEO of a Chicago-based cannabis company with a dispensary and craft cultivation license. And he is a principal of the ColaGroup, a Chicago-based cannabis management services company, which manages Nature’s Care dispensary in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. Akele sits on the board of directors of Chicago NORML, and the Cannabis Equity Illinois Coalition where he co-led the negotiation and implementation of the cannabis industry’s first community benefits agreement (CBA).
