Neuromodulation of the Brain and Spine
Neuroaxis invites General Practitioners and Healthcare Professionals to attend this live, online and interactive meeting presented by Dr Harry Sivakumar, Dr Amit Ganguly and presented and facilitated by Mr Girish Nair.

Activity ID 279645

This activity will provide GPs with clarity around pain types and mechanism, neuromodulator modes and analgesic mechanisms, and psychosocial factors influencing patient selection. This will equip them with relevant and up-to-date information that can be applied in counselling patients in primary care. Regarding Parkinson's disease, there is currently no treatment available to stop the progressions of the disease, however in the past few years Deep Brain Stimulation has been recognized as an established therapeutic tool that can significantly control the motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. This module will enable the GPs of such advanced therapies to be able to discuss this with their patients.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Use a structured approach to assess back pain and headache and identify suitable patients for advanced therapies
2. Assess patients with Parkinson’s Disease to determine their suitability for deep brain stimulation.
3. Describe the indications and guidelines for selecting appropriate patients for neuromodulation of the brain and spine.

The Provider of this activity is Neuroaxis. Neuroaxis is a CPD education provider under the RACGP CPD Program.
