Join us LIVE for our virtual field trip with the Seminole Tribe of Florida! A deep connection to the land is a hallmark of Seminole tradition. Today the Tribe has six reservations throughout Florida and over 4,000 enrolled Tribal members. The Seminoles have raised cattle for centuries and are currently one of the largest producers in the country.
The tour will highlight the two largest reservations, Big Cypress and Brighton, and showcase the Tribe’s longstanding history of agriculture and animal husbandry. Take a walk through McDaniel’s Ranch, next to the Big Cypress Reservation, and learn about the vast history of cattle keeping and modern enterprises.
Journey to the Brighton Reservation and visit the Red Barn, built in 1941. The barn has served many purposes for the Tribe over the years—from home of the modern Seminole cattle industry to a meeting place for the forming of the democratic government—and stands today as a symbol of the Tribe’s focus on community and proud entrepreneurial spirit.
