This presentation will walk through some of the history behind smoke controls origins, the codes that have been developed over the decades and refinement of the systems functional design. In addition, we’ll delve into the physics behind smoke movement in buildings and explain the “why" and “how" smoke control systems work. This non-traditional presentation method will be both entertaining and enlightening.

Mr. Ventola has over 35-years of experience in the life safety industry and has worked for many of the major fire alarm equipment manufacturers during that time. Since 2013, Mike has been the Business Development Manager for Space Age Electronics covering the Southeast Region and brings a diverse perspective to the industry.
Mr. Ventola is listed as Principal on the NFPA Technical Committee for Smoke Management Systems comprising of NFPA 92 and NFPA 204. Mike is also a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) and completed all requirements for NICET IV in Fire Alarm and NICET II in Special Hazards.
Mike’s degree in Electronic Engineering coupled with his management and sales leadership experience are foundational in his unique presentations style of storytelling. Today’s presentation will not only educate you on complex subject but will also illustrate the interwoven code complexity which helps guide us in addressing the needs of our industry.
