Sinai School of Medicine) Dr. Leroith has been involved in research on the role of insulin and insulin-like growth factors in normal physiology and pathological states for many years. During this period, he created transgenic and gene-deletion mouse models to simulate human physiology and pathological disorders including growth and development and metabolic disorders such as diabetes. More recently he studied the association between metabolic states such as obesity and Type 2 diabetes and cancer risk and cancer-related mortality, and has used these mouse models for these studies. Kwang-Wei Tham (MB,BCh,BAO @Singapore Association for the Study of Obesity/National Healthcare Group, Singapore) Dr. Kwang-Wei Tham is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist from Singapore with main interests in care delivery and clinical interventions in obesity management, and in the medical outcomes of metabolic bariatric surgery. She is active in promoting professional obesity training and education, and in advocacy to improve the standard of obesity care and care delivery to people living with obesity. Wendy Brown (Pofessor @Program Director Surgical Services, The Alfred Chair Department of Surgery Monash University, Australia) Professor Brown is an Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon. She is the Programme Director for Surgical Services and Chair of the Monash University Department of Surgery at Alfred Health, the Director of the Oesophago-Gastric and Bariatric Unit Alfred Hospital as well as Clinical Director of the ANZ Bariatric Surgery Registry and Clinical Lead of the Victorian State Upper GI Cancer Registry. Her sub-specialist interests are Oesophago-gastric Cancer, Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD) and Bariatric Surgery. Her research interests focus on the health benefits from weight loss, physiology of upper GI procedures, optimal service delivery models for bariatric surgery and registry science. She collaborates with basic researchers exploring mechanisms of satiety, NASH and oesophageal cancer. She is Chair of the International Federation for Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) Global Registry and Chair of the Victorian Perioperative Consultative Council Surgical Sub-Committee. Syed Abbas Raza (Chair) (MD, MBBS, F.A.C.E @Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital and Research Center / National Hospital and Medical Center) Dr. S. Abbas Raza is working as consultant Diabetologist /Endocrinologist at Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital & Research Center and National Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan. Dr. Raza graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore Pakistan. He received his Internal Medicine residency training from Atlantic City Medical Center, New Jersey, USA and also, served as Chief medical resident at the same institution. His fellowship training for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism was at University of Wisconsin, Madison, U.S.A. He is Diplomat American Board of Internal Medicine and Diplomat American Board of Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism. He is actively involved in formulating and have published guidelines and consensus statement for South East Asia region related to Diabetes and Endocrinology.
