Viktor Shvets is a global strategist at Macquarie Bank. In his almost four-decades-long investment banking career, he worked in Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong, London, New York and Moscow at a number of global investment banks, such as Baring Securities, Deutsche Bank, DLJ, Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse. He is a prolific writer on key global trends and is a frequent commentator on CNBC, Bloomberg, and other media outlets. In June 2020, Viktor has published his first book – ‘The Great Rupture’ – distilling decades of investment and academic experience into a deep perspective of the future, and the role that people, technology and capital are likely to play, as societies continue to come under pressure from the self-reinforcing merger of the Information Age and deep Financialization.

Michael has studied markets and market structures for nearly 30 years. He has presented his proprietary research to the Federal Reserve, the BIS, the IMF and numerous other industry groups and associations. Michael joined Simplify in April 2021 after serving as Chief Strategist and Portfolio Manager for Logica Capital Advisers, LLC. Prior to Logica, Michael managed macro strategies at Thiel Macro, LLC. Prior to Thiel, he founded Ice Farm Capital, a discretionary global macro hedge fund. From 2006-2014, Michael founded and managed the New York office of Canyon Capital Advisors where he established their global macro strategies, managing in excess of $5B of exposure across equity, credit, FX, commodity and derivative markets. Additionally, Michael has been noted for his work as a public speaker and financial media participant. He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a CFA holder.

Harley is an industry thought leader and commentator on macroeconomic issues spanning decades. He spent 26 years at Merrill Lynch where he created OPOSSMS, GNMA, PRESERV, MOVE, and hedge strategies for MBS servers. From 2014 to 2017, Harley was an Executive VP and Portfolio Manager at PIMCO. In 2011, he joined Credit Suisse's Global Rates. In 2006, he built the RateLab, a full spectrum US Rates Trading Desk Strategy Group. In 2001, he became the manager of North American MBS and Structured Finance trading where he created SURF (Specialty Underwriting and Residential Finance). Presently, Mr. Bassman is a Managing Partner at Simplify Asset Management. He continues to pen an episodic macro-economic Commentary as well as manage a "hedge fund of one". Harley has a B.A. in management science from the University of California, San Diego and an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago.
