Innovation Series: Meet Two Changemakers Uniting Three Generations to Promote Mental Wellness

Meet two innovators who are leading efforts to bring three generations together to promote mental wellness for all — plus two pairs of older and younger participants who’ve helped pilot the programs.

Moderator Serena Bian, special advisor for the Surgeon General of the United States and CoGenerate board member, will moderate a discussion featuring:

Lewis Bernstein, co-founder of SWAN 3G Mentoring, which engages Sesame Workshop retirees like himself to mentor high school students who, in turn, mentor preschoolers using curated Sesame Street segments that spark discussion, empathy and joy. Lewis is a CoGenerate Innovation Fellow.

Raquel Padia, who brings Foster Grandparents and Cal State Fresno students together to teach emotional literacy to youth ages 7 to 20 in afterschool programs, a charter school, and a foster care agency. Raquel works at the Fresno (CA) Economic Opportunity Commission, one of eight CoGenerate grantees working piloting new ways to age-integrate national service.

Both innovators will share what they’re learning and highlight the curricula they’re developing. They’ll also take your questions.
