Webinar on Family Law: Abuse & Domestic Violence

For a long time in Malaysia, physical abuse was the only form of domestic violence that was granted recognition. However, after the new amendment to the Domestic Violence Act 1994, the Court has also recognised other forms of abuse. While emotional abuse does not always lead to physical abuse, physical abuse in a marriage is almost always preceded by and often accompanied by emotional abuse. We do not always talk about other forms of abuse because there is a misconception that they are not as serious or damaging as physical abuse. However, in reality, these forms of abuse are detrimental and damaging to a spouse’s well-being. In our upcoming webinar, we will not only discuss physical abuse but also the other forms of abuse that are recognised under the law.
