faiVLive: Accounting for the Gender Profit Gap
Date & Time
Selected Sessions:
Mar 2, 2021 02:00 PM
Description
Around the world, businesses owned by women tend to be smaller and less profitable. Understanding why is important for empowering women, reducing poverty and closing gender gaps in other domains. Does the performance of women-led firms lag due to characteristics of culture, access to finance, the choices and preferences of women, or other factors? A growing body of innovative research is focused on explaining gender differences in the profitability and growth of micro and small businesses, and paving the way to better meet the needs of female entrepreneurs.
Moderated by FAI Managing Director Tim Ogden, we’ll explore these questions with some of the field’s leading researchers and practitioners:
- Nava Ashraf, London School of Economics
- Morgan Hardy, NYU Abu Dhabi
- Tatiana Rincon, Fundacion Capital
