In our last show Palestinian professor and attorney Noura Erakat informed our viewers about Israel’s policy of refusing to return the bodies of Palestinians slain by Israeli forces.
Noura told us how her own cousin, Ahmed Erekat, who was “shot six times above the waist in two seconds on his sister’s wedding day trying to cross a checkpoint” has still not been returned to her family despite being killed in June 2020.
This week we go deeper – Mark Seddon speaks with Deep Dive favourite Budour Hassan (Legal Researcher for Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Centre) about Israel’s policy of forbidding the return of slain Palestinians to their families.
We go deeper to find out... Is this legal? Why do they do it? And can it be resisted?
