Acute pain during and in the hours after disbudding can be managed with medication, but less focus has been placed on what calves experience once these drugs have worn off. In this webinar, Dr. Adcock will discuss current best practice for acute pain management and whether it is sufficient for ensuring longer-term welfare after disbudding.

Assistant Professor of Animal Welfare @University of Wisconsin-Madison

Dr. Adcock is an Assistant Professor of Animal Welfare in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The goal of her research is to minimize the impact of disease and painful procedures on animal health and welfare. Before working at UW Madison, she completed her PhD at the University of California-Davis, studying the long-term welfare implications of disbudding in dairy calves, which will be the focus of her presentation today.
