Digital Financial Inclusion: The Gateway to Growth for Women Entrepreneurs & Businesses
Nearly 20% of working-age women in developing economies are entrepreneurs. Their businesses are diverse – from small-scale agriculture to online businesses. They are also informal businesses operating outside of the formal economy, and in sectors hardest hit by economic shocks and climate events, such as agriculture and tourism. With a gender gap in access to digital technology, skills, and financial products, women face additional challenges to their success. And as a result of the pandemic, four in ten women-owned businesses have or may close, meaning a reversal in the progress of financial inclusion of women and additional pressure on the global economy. Despite all of this, women-owned businesses are drivers of today's economy.

Imagine the possibilities if they were financially included, with equal access to the technology, skills, and financing they need to build and grow their businesses to shape tomorrow's markets.

On the heels of the Global Findex Report launch from the World Bank, join us for the launch of the Women’s Digital Financial Inclusion Advocacy Hub as we discuss with our panel of experts what this new data means, how we address gender gaps in technology, skills, and digital financial services, and why we need more collective action so that women can make an informed choice on their financial future, creating a world where women thrive, and economies prosper.
