Webinar with AARP - Judging the Relevance of Skills Credentials
As an employer, understanding and evaluating educational credentials can be difficult. According to a 2019 report from Credential Engine, there are 700,000 unique credentials in the U.S. A lack of understanding can result in missed talent and opportunities. Older workers often turn to credentials to help expand and certify their skills. In fact, a recent AARP survey reported that two-thirds of older workers have taken some type of skills training in the past two years.

Yet employers have trouble navigating the credential marketplace and determining which non-degree credentials are quality markers for skills. As more and more companies begin to explore skills based hiring practices, employers will need to have a deeper understanding of the credential marketplace as a whole and promising practices from other employers on how they are approaching the credential market.

During this webinar, you’ll have an opportunity to hear from Dr. Roy Swift, Executive Director of WorkCred. WorkCred is a nonprofit organization that is focused on strengthening workforce quality by improving the credentialing system, ensuring its ongoing relevance, and preparing employers, workers, educators, and governments to use it effectively. Additionally, Amy Dufrane, CEO of HR Certification Institute, joins the discussion on validating credentials and skills-based hiring. HRCI is the premier credentialing organization for the human resource profession, setting the standard for HR rigor, excellence and expertise for more than 45 years.

The session will run from 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET, including a time for Q&A.
