Despite the fact that nearly one in four Americans has a disability, Americans with disabilities are underrepresented in elected office. Most of us do not know of anybody in our state and local governments serving in office with a seen or unseen disability.
Join Run for Something and National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) for a conversation to encourage disabled community members to run for office.
Current candidates will discuss how their disabilities have played a role in their campaigns and while in office.
- Run for Something recruits and supports diverse, progressive Democrats age 40 and under, running in local and state races.
- NCIL advocates for members of the disabled community, including offering candidate and political staff trainings.
Zoom Live Transcription and simultaneous ASL translation will be provided during this event. Should you need any additional accommodations, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
