Miss Chantelle Rizan
ENT Doctoral Research Fellow in Surgical Sustainability @Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust
Chantelle Rizan is an ENT Research Fellow at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, currently undertaking a PhD seeking to identify carbon hotspots within the operating theatre at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Chantelle is a Surgical Research Fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and she is a founding member of both the RCSEng Sustainability in Surgery working group, and the Environmental Sustainability Steering Group at her local NHS Trust. Chantelle works closely with the UK Centre for Sustainable Healthcare as their Sustainable Surgery Fellow.
Prof Mahmood Bhutta
Professor of ENT Surgery @Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust
Professor Mahmood Bhutta is consultant ENT surgeon in Brighton. In 2006 he founded the Medical Fair and Ethical Trade Group (hosted at the British Medical Association) in response to labour rights abuses in the manufacture of medical products, including surgical instruments, gloves and textiles. He works with the NHS, and international procurement organisations and NGOs, to foster better working conditions in healthcare supply chains.
Miss Victoria Pegna
Specialty Trainee in General Surgery & RCSEng Council Member @Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust
Victoria is a senior general surgery registrar in the KSS Deanery. She is also a member of RCSEng council and is vice chair and founding member of the Sustainability in Surgery group at RCSEng. Her interest both in and out of work is the environment, equality and diversity and ethical trade.
