WorkSafeBC Handling of Workplace Sexual Harassment Claims
Learn about how WorkSafeBC handles workplace sexual harassment and assault claims in this 1.5-hr webinar. This presentation will cover the intake and adjudication of workplace sexual assault and harassment claims as well as how WorkSafeBC handles civil actions against perpetrators of sexual assault under the subrogation provisions of s. 130 of the Workers’ Compensation Act.

This webinar is presented in partnership with the SHARP Workplaces program through CLAS (Sexual Harassment Advice, Response, and Prevention for Workplaces). The presentation will be aimed primarily at SHARP roster lawyers. However, other lawyers, law students and legal advocates are welcome to attend.

Our speakers will be Jenn Stevens and Ben Parkin with WorkSafeBC.

Participants in this webinar may claim up to 1.5 hours of CPD credit with LSBC.

Ben Parkin
Director Law and Policy @WorkSafeBC
Ben Parkin was called to the bar in 1988. He worked in private practice for several years and then joined the Workers’ Compensation Board Legal Services Department in 1994, where he conducted subrogated civil litigation claims. He left the Board in 2002 to be the Assistant Director of the City of Vancouver Law Department. He returned to WorkSafeBC in 2015 as Director, Litigation, Law and Policy. He continues to conduct civil litigation for WorkSafeBC and manages a team of in-house litigation lawyers and outside counsel.
Jenn Stevens
Client Services Manager within Mental Health Adjudication @WorkSafeBC
Jenn Stevens has been at WorkSafeBC since 2015 and has worked in a variety of claims roles, including Case Manager. She has managed a team of Adjudicators focused on physical trauma injuries and, most recently, Adjudicators who focus on Mental Health injuries.
