Data Platform Migrations - Few Learnings

Data technology/platform migrations are inevitable with advent of new technologies promising features on cost, performance, availability, security and others. Whether it is SQL server to Oracle or traditional structured Data Warehouse to Big Data lake, these are not simple and are multiyear programs. How successful are these migrations? Does the new platform meet the needs and enable new integrations? Over a period of time, teams realize that it takes great effort to migrate or integrate on new platform and prefer to continue with the old one. Why does this happen?
