Rural Affordable Housing
Despite the concentration of housing issues in cities and metropolitan areas, the lack of affordable housing impacts cities and rural communities alike. During this session we'll hear from Carolyn Dunn, the Executive Director of Stafford County Economic Development, about what the affordable housing landscape looks like in Rural America. Rooted in a lack of investment in housing over time, the poor conditions and aging of the current available housing stock, and a lack of quality housing availability to meet the needs of the working middle class, rural communities share some similar policy-based challenges as urban areas while also dealing with unique obstacles of their own.

Carolyn will highlight some of her work at Stafford County Economic Development, where their mission is "to promote economic and population growth throughout the County by assisting [their] local businesses, engaging in community activities, and promoting Stafford County as a great place to live, work and play!"
