Learning Outcomes:
Through this activity, GP's will be able to:
1. Assess, identify, stabilize and manage the patient requiring initial emergency stabilization, followed by medical or surgical assessment. Then to interpret the clinical significance of presentations in primary care; thereby enabling identification of vascular patients needing a pathway to a referral for urgent review;
2. Assess the patients requiring surgical assessment, treatment and management and then be able to interpret the clinical significance of presentations in primary care; thereby identifying early patients needing a pathway to a referral for surgery to prevent further complications;
3. Assess the patients requiring medical assessment, treatment and management and then be able to interpret the clinical significance of presentations in primary care; thereby identifying early patients needing a pathway to a referral for medical management to prevent further complications.

He took further training in Melbourne, Queensland and overseas to become a qualified Specialist Vascular Surgeon. He has public appointments at Monash Hospital and Box Hill hospital as a consultant Vascular Surgeon. Interests include: •Endovenous laser and radiofrequency treatment of varicose veins •Sclerotherapy treatment of varicose veins •Medical, endovascular and surgical treatment of Peripheral Arterial Disease •Peripheral arterial angioplasty & stenting •Management of arterial aneurysms •Open vascular surgery •Management of diabetic foot ulcers and chronic wounds Dr Steven Harris MBChB FRACP (General Physician and Endocrinologist @Holmesglen Private Hospital) As a General and Endocrine physician Dr Harris provides pre and post-operative care for surgical patients. His aim is to provide the best care possible for patients. Dr Harris actively involves all patients, discussing and explaining their conditions and the proposed management. During consultation a clinical evaluation will be conducted and further tests will be recommended to provide comprehensive assessment and management. The goal is to provide excellence in care. Dr Harris investigates and manages patients with • Complex Medical Problems • Diabetes • Osteoporosis • Thyroid Disease • General Endocrine Conditions. Care is provided for the following • Pre and Post-operative surgical patients. Dr Harris believes the best management of patients is achieved by a holistic approach with the patient and their primary care practitioner.
