Being the parent and carer of a child with disabilities is tough. People can be quick to judge and it is a constant battle to get the support and benefits that more often than not they are entitled to.
The processes are long with many hurdles and obstacles along the way, with most finding the experience overwhelming and emotionally draining. On top of other family/work responsibilities and financial challenges, the burden is great.
Being the parent of a child with a disability is also hugely rewarding, the love and bonds are deep. However, empathy from those without personal experience and understanding is sadly often lacking.
The more people understand, the more we hope they will stand by us to campaign and demand the policy and cultural changes that are so badly needed.
We are inviting you to join us on Monday 8th February at 7pm for this Zoom event. We will be hearing from our own Bath CLP members about their experiences as carers for their children
