Encore.org commissioned a nationally representative survey to gauge how American adults think about cogeneration, a strategy to bring older and younger people together to solve problems and bridge divides. NORC at the University of Chicago used its AmeriSpeak panel to survey 1,549 respondents, ages 18 to 94, online and by phone. In this free, one-hour virtual conversation, Encore.org leaders Marc Freedman and Eunice Lin Nichols and Boston College professor Cal Halvorsen will present the findings, add their insights, and answer your questions.

Eunice Lin Nichols (Co-CEO @Encore.org) Eunice Lin Nichols is obsessed with bringing older and younger generations together to solve society’s greatest challenges, creating a better future for all. She is Vice President of Innovation at Encore.org where she leads the Gen2Gen Innovation Fellowship. Previously, she ran the Generation to Generation campaign, an initiative to mobilize 1 million adults 50+ to help young people thrive and The Purpose Prize (now a program of AARP), which has awarded over $5 million in prizes to nearly 100 social entrepreneurs over the age of 60 since 2006. She also spent 11 years leading a portfolio of initiatives to expand the social contributions of older adults in California, including scaling Experience Corps from one neighborhood school in San Francisco into a thriving Bay Area program helping thousands of kids read by third grade. Cal J. Halvorsen (Assistant Professor @Center on Aging & Work at Boston College) Cal J. Halvorsen, PhD, MSW, is an assistant professor at the Boston College School of Social Work, an affiliate of the Center on Aging & Work at Boston College, and a Senior Research Fellow at Encore.org. His work examines aging societies, intergenerational initiatives, and the need and desire for people past midlife to work past traditional retirement age, with particular emphasis on self-employment, entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, and encore careers. His research has been funded by both public and private sources, including the U.S. Social Security Administration, AmeriCorps, Boston College, Encore.org, and the Hope Foundation.
