ACP Teaching Webinar - Sarcoma
The ACP is pleased to host a teaching session on the medical management of sarcoma.

Soft tissue sarcomas are a rare group of cancers, of which there are many subtypes and are more common in young patients. This session will involve 2 expert-led presentations covering:

1) An overview of SACT for soft tissue sarcoma (Dr Adam Dangoor), and
2) Recent developments in soft tissue sarcoma (Dr Charlotte Benson)

These will be followed by trainee case presentation(s) and panel discussion.

Charlotte Benson
Consultant Medical Oncologist @Royal Marsden Hospital
Charlotte specialises in the treatment of soft tissue sarcomas with chemotherapy and targeted therapies, with a particular focus on histology-guided therapy and drug development. She qualified from University of Liverpool Medical School and completed her general medical training in Liverpool and London. She trained in medical oncology at The Royal Marsden including a period of research in early drug development in the Phase I unit. On completion of specialist training in 2010 she joined the Sarcoma Unit. She has a strong interest in clinical trials, acting as chief and principal investigator in national and international trials. She is actively involved in coordinating sarcoma research and is a member of the NCRI Sarcoma Clinical Studies Group and the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group. She has a strong interest in medical education and enjoys teaching and mentoring staff from within the unit and from overseas,
Adam Dangoor
Consultant Medical Oncologist @United Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust
Adam graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1993, and subsequently worked in a number of hospitals in the UK, as well as in New Zealand, and Australia. His specialist training in oncology was carried out in New Zealand, and then the Christie Hospital in Manchester. A period of research as a CRUK Clinical Fellow was undertaken at the Paterson Institute in Manchester. Specialist training was completed in 2008 and, following a locum consultant post in Manchester, he moved to Bristol. He led the organisation of the annual British Sarcoma Group conference in Bristol 2017 and is lead author of the UK Guidelines for the Management of Soft Tissue Sarcoma. He has a particular interest in clinical trials, service improvement and digital health applications. He is the research lead and deputy network lead for sarcoma, and chemotherapy lead and Joint Chief Clinical Information Officer in Bristol, and Oncology Advisor to Doctors.net.
