Northpark Private Hospital invites General Practitioners to attend this live, online and interactive meeting presented by Dr Anna Manolopoulos and chaired by Charmayne Thompson
Activity ID: 211391
Initial assessment and early management of fractures is usually the responsibility of the general practitioner as they are often the first to be presented with the injury.
This webinar aims to support by providing them with the background knowledge required to help them make good choices in the treatment management of fractures. It provides also a sound theoretical overview of what incorporates successful plastering of a fracture and looks at the errors that are often made and how these can be avoided. Since plastering in general practice is not always the best choice of treatment and some fractures require specialist treatment, the presentation also educates the GP in knowing when to refer the patient for an orthopeaedic opinion.
Through this activity, GP's will be able to:
1. Use various factors to help them determine the best possible treatment plan for a patient with a fracture. This would include knowledge of the healing process, type and location of the fracture;
2. Know when to refer a patient with a complicated fracture for an orthopaedic opinion;
3. Understand how to correctly plaster a fractured limb;
4. Recognise what constitutes a poor cast for a fracture and strategies in which to avoid these types of errors.
Healthscope is a CPD education provider under the RACGP CPD Program.
