What is operational excellence?
MMU regards operational excellence as going beyond simply a consistent adherence to upholding your brand standards. We define it as “a style of teamwork, problem solving and leadership that leads to continuous improvement”.
Our emphasis is on the “continuous improvement” element, which requires genuine leadership to make it a reality. The multi-unit managers journey to achieve this will require both consistency and discipline, day-in, day-out (which is the tough bit!)
Join us to discover the 4 operational disciplines that outstanding multi-unit managers must master in order to achieve excellence:
1. Non-negotiable standards and expectations - clarity concerning standards and expectations must go beyond just having brand manual to refer to.
2. Period business reviews - routinely reviewing all aspects of the operation means conducting a balanced business review, where discussions around your team’s growth and your customer’s experience, takes equal billing to key performance indicates and other financial results
3. Proactive action planning - understanding the two types of action plan that every multi-unit manager should ensure exists, focusing on quarterly priorities identified by the business reviews, determining specific action steps with clear accountabilities
4. Critical impact visits - closing the loop on the action plans, understanding how your teams ‘see’ the business, praising results and coaching them when they’re off base
