In a static world, a request for information stops once you have it. Real-time information is limited to the moment asked for it.
In a dynamic world such as ours, you need to be ready when new information appears that changes everything. To stay real-time, data must be consistently updated with every relevant change.
Why should your database stop sending you information simply because it ran out of data?
Data subscriptions enable your database to analyze every new piece of information as it comes in, to determine which queries need to be updated, real-time information.
In RavenDB, you can start with a question like, “How many users do I have in Texas right now?” Using Data Subscriptions, you can expand that query to instruct RavenDB to notify you every time a current user from Texas cancels or a new user signs up.
This gives you the opportunity to be the first in line to see new patterns emerge in your data. You can run some awesome logic.
For example, say you discover that for the last two weeks, the bulk of your users are from Canada. You can add logic to your site to include the previous night's ice hockey scores at the bottom of your screen. If a week later, the moving averages tell you that your users are now coming mostly from Brazil, you can switch your site to display football scores.
You can adapt your product and outreach to live updates to your data.
Watch RavenDB CEO Oren Eini show you how, as he takes you for a deep dive into keeping your answers cutting edge long after you asked the questions.
