1. Identify common paediatric conditions involving ears and their associated long-term morbidities.
2. Identify common paediatric conditions involving airways and their associated long-term morbidities.
3. Identify the patient presentations where GPs can watch and wait and those that require specialist or emergency review.
4. Explain the indications for surgical intervention and peri/post-operative considerations.

Dr David Lowinger
Ear Nose & Throat Specialist Surgeon @Prince of Wales Private Hospital
Dr David Lowinger is a leading Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon with expertise in ENT care for children and adults. He has been a longstanding VMO ENT Surgeon at Sydney Children’s Hospital, and St Luke’s Hospital, with a private practice in Bondi Junction. Dr Lowinger has authored numerous articles in national and international peer reviewed medical journals and has presented nationally and internationally. He is actively involved in ENT specialist training and medical student teaching at the University of New South Wales and frequently presents ENT update courses to General Practitioners, Paediatricians and other specialists. Dr Lowinger’s practice in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs has a referral base from all areas of NSW and has a reputation for compassionate conservative patient care, surgical expertise and outstanding service and availability to practitioners.
Dr Phillip Chang

Dr Phillip Chang is one of the Australian’s most experienced ear surgeons for adult and children, following highly acclaimed local and international training. Dr Chang’s surgical interests and repertoire extends across all ages and all procedures, from minor ear surgery to more complex skull base approaches for acoustic neuroma surgery. He is the founder and surgical director of Hearing Implants Australia for adults as well as The Sydney Children’s hospitals Cochlear Implant Programme for paediatric patients. Dr Chang is passionate about changing healthcare delivery by ensuring that the progammes he leads improve access to world class ear and hearing implant surgery and care. Through teaching international surgeons invited to Australia, his vision and experience is being shared across the globe.
