Head of Open Access Policy @Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Ashley is Program Officer of Knowledge and Research Services at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In this capacity, she leads the Foundation’s Open Access Policy’s implementation and associated initiatives. This includes leading the work of Gates Open Research, a transparent and revolutionary publishing platform. Other core activities involve supporting the strategic and operational aspects of the foundation’s library. This work has sparked a passion for open access, believing that freely accessible knowledge has the power to improve and save lives.
Johan Rooryck
Executive Director @cOAlition S
Johan Rooryck is Executive Director of cOAlition S and linguistics professor at Leiden University. He has over 20 years’ experience as an editor, first as the Executive Editor of Lingua (Elsevier) and since 2015 as the founder and Editor in Chief of the Fair Open Access journal Glossa: a journal of general linguistics. He is President of the Quality Open Access Market (QOAM), founding member and President of the Fair Open Access Alliance (FOAA), founding member of Mathematics in Open Access (MathOA) and Psychology in Open Access (PsyOA), founding member and President of Linguistics in Open Access (LingOA), and Member of the Academia Europaea.
Nick Campbell, Ph.D.
Vice President - Academic Affairs @Springer Nature
Nick Campbell is the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Springer Nature. He joined NPG in 2001 and has since been an Editor on Nature Reviews Genetics, Executive editor of Nature and also held the role as Director of the Nature portfolio in China. Nick’s first degree, PhD and postdoctoral research were in genetics and is deeply involved in Plan S discussions.
