Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially the field of machine learning (ML), is transforming virtually all aspects of our lives. In the Indian context, there are still a lot of challenges that need to/are being addressed, like diversity of languages, low availability of web resources, code mixing (mixing of languages in the same sentence), non-unique transliterations, and misspellings.
At Google Research India, this is tackled by building multilingual models, better transliteration models that capture phonetic and spelling variations, increasing coverage of knowledge graphs with entities from new locales, and improving machine translation for low web-resource languages. Google Research India, is also working towards democratising access to information for people in their native language, that can be used to improve critical needs like public healthcare, agriculture and wildlife conservation.
Join us this Saturday, October 9, 2021 in listening to Dr Manish Gupta, Director of Google Research India as he talks about the ongoing efforts to tackle problems arising in the Indian context and beyond. He will also delve into outstanding challenges associated with the overall field of AI itself, like safety, data privacy, and fairness, and their guiding principles and directions to address them.
Please note: Only the first 500 participants will be able to join the session, as there are limited spots available.
