Dr Rebecca Simon
Dr Rebecca Simon is a historian of early modern piracy, Colonial America, the Atlantic World, legal history, crime and punishment, and maritime history. Publications include her new book, Why We Love Pirates: The Hunt for Captain Kidd and How He Changed Piracy Forever. She is currently researching female pirates.
Jibunnessa Abdullah

Jibunnessa Abdullah will be the event host and presenter. She has a background in archaeology, and has worked on archaeological and palaeontological fieldwork and survey projects in various parts of the UK, Europe, Asia and the Americas. She is also a coder, writer, graphic designer, animator and video editor who also teaches these skills to community groups, corporate clients and university staff and students. Her aim with the series is to bring some of the finest experts in archaeology, history, anthropology, linguistics, palaeontology, geology and philosophy, along with writers, filmmakers, journalists, artists, and public decision-makers, from around the globe together online to create a scholarly space for intelligent talks and conversations accessible to all.
