Chronic Orthopaedic Conditions in General Practice - A two-part series
Gold Coast Private Hospital is pleased to deliver its two-part series on its two-part series on Chronic Orthopaedic Conditions in General Practice. Each meeting has been accredited for 3 CPD Education points.

The meetings will cover:

24th June- Hip Patients: Presented by Dr Matthew Alfredson and Dr James Reidy and hosted by Dr Francois Tudor

15th July- Painful Knee: Presented by Dr William Talbot and Dr Jason Tsung and hosted by Mr Justin Mistry.


Through this activity, GP's will be able to:

1. Describe hip OA in the under 50 and the treatment options available.
2. Identify the benefits of anterior hip resurfacing for their patients.
3. Identify the best conservative options for treating knee OA.
4. Describe the different management options for unsatisfied TKR patients.

Mr Justin Mistry (MPhty & BExSci (Griffith University) APA member, MPA, PBA)

Practice Director, Justin graduated from Griffith University in 2008 with his Masters of Physiotherapy. He launched Back In Motion in 2012, launched a second practice in Burleigh Waters in 2019 and is now branching out in his 3rd Gold Coast Practice in Mudgeeraba. He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), and further member of the Business and Musculoskeletal branches of the APA. Justin has many areas of specialty including the treatment of BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) and Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJD) and uses Clinical Exercise, Shockwave Therapy and Prescription Orthotics to ensure a complete rehabilitation. Sports strains and sprains, lower back and neck pain, postural dysfunction and ergonomics (work environment) and management of chronic pain are other specialities. Justin is one of the few people in Australia recognised by golfing giant Titleist as a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor (CGFI).
Dr William Talbot (Orth) FAOrthA
Senior Lecturer @Griffith University Gold Coast
Dr William Talbot is a specialty trained orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in adult and paediatric conditions of the shoulder and knee. He completed his Bachelor of Science in 2002 at the University of Queensland, continued with his studies and attained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2006 and in 2015 he completed his training. He furthered his training through the Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited Fellowship in Arthroplasty and Reconstruction in 2016 at Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland in Townsville. He is currently a Senior Lecturer Griffith University Gold Coast, Associate Lecturer Bond University Gold Coast and previous Associate Lecturer James Cook University. Consulting from Pindara Medical Specialist Centre as well as Broadbeach Family Practice, Dr Talbot is Visiting Medical Officer at Pindara Private Hospital, Gold Coast Private Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital and provides surgical services at these hospitals.
Dr Jason Tsung (BSc (Hons) MBBS FRACS (Orth) FAOrthA)
Orthopaedic Surgeon @Orthopaedic Clinics Gold Coast
Dr Jason Tsung is an orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in adult hip and knee replacement, knee ligament reconstruction and knee arthroscopy, along with musculoskeletal trauma in both adults and children. Dr Tsung has extensive experience managing orthopaedic trauma of the upper and lower extremities in multiple metropolitan and regional trauma services in Australia and the UK and undertook his Fellowship in Hip and Knee Surgery at Peninsula Orthopaedics Research Institute and Fellowship in Hip Surgery at Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in the UK. He is sub-specialty trained in both arthroplasty and arthroscopic techniques of the hip and knee, ligament reconstruction and joint preservation surgery and is one of the first Orthopaedic Surgeons on the Gold Coast to provide patients with robotic surgery options and to perform unicompartmental knee replacement and hip replacement surgery.
