Storage Technologies for Datacenters in Space
Data storage is moving from the ground to the cloud to outer space – Is it the future or a pet rock?

Datacenters on the ground, which store info in the cloud, are among the largest consumers of energy. Does putting large digital data stores in space provide a more sustainable approach? Opponents of mass satellite data storage cite preferential treatment to applicants, light pollution, and questions of air space rights and international conflicts quickly come into play as satellites proliferate the skies. Satellites tend to have fairly small power budgets, physical footprints are limited, and cooling electronics in space is difficult. However, direct access to satellite data links can simplify data transmission.

In this webinar, leading storage experts explore the universe of enterprise storage in space and the issues, concerns, and opportunities that derive from that exploration.
