Join Preventable Surprises for the launch of the Border & Surveillance Industries Stewardship Project. Investors from across continents will come together to share ideas on how to engage with companies in tech, border security, and refugee/migrant detention and transport to address human rights concerns and frame investor responsibility on migrant rights.
- Assessing new opportunities for forceful stewardship on migrant rights
Speakers will explain approaches for institutional investors to engage with companies in the Border & Surveillance Industries (BSI) to protect human rights, reframe narratives around global migration and engage with key players to ensure more systematic respect for migrant rights across the tech, security and private prisons systems. Key opportunities for stewardship across equities, bonds and infrastructure will be highlighted as part of this introduction to the project.
The first section of the roundtable will include a panel discussion of a new discussion note, followed by detailed case studies on upcoming shareholder resolutions at Thomson Reuters, Microsoft and other tech companies who are involved in border security and migrant detention, transport and surveillance.
