Irving Berlin conquered Hollywood in the mid-1930s with scores for three Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers pictures, then wrote the sparkling score for the little known Dick Powell-Alice Faye movie “On the Avenue”, then released “God Bless America”, and then, in the midst of war, wrote the immortal "White Christmas" for the film “Holiday Inn”.
