Implementing the SDGs in India: Poverty, Hunger & Gender
Statistical indicators cannot bring about sustainable development, unless they are tied to the social context, with existing welfare and rural development schemes brought together under one reference framework. To discuss this and other findings of the recently published report entitled “Implementing the SDGs in India: Poverty, Hunger and Gender”, the Foundation for Global Governance and Sustainability (FOGGS) convenes a virtual panel discussion on:

Wednesday, 12 May 2021
-11:00 am to 12:30 pm London time
-12:00 noon to 1:30 pm Brussels time
-3:30 pm to 5:00 pm Bangalore time

The event will bring together the report’s authors, who participated in the collaborative project under the same name supported by Queen Mary University of London, namely:

• Neetu Sharma, Coordinator and Program Head-Right to Food, Centre for Child and the Law (CCL), National Law School of India University (NLSIU)
• Sudha Reddy, Secretary/Director, Eco Foundation for Sustainable Alternatives (EFSA)
• John R. Clammer, Professor, School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU)
• Stella Ladi, Senior Lecturer in Public Management, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), and
• Georgios Kostakos, Executive Director, FOGGS, who will chair the discussion

The following distinguished experts have agreed to respond to the report's findings and recommendations as discussants:
• Faye Leone, Senior Policy Advisor, Tracking Progress, IISD
• Dr. Tara M S, Member, SDG - 2 Action Committee, Govt. of Karnataka
• Nikhil Seth, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Executive Director, UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)
• Rajesh Tandon, Founder-President, Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), Dean, PRIA International Academy

The event will take place online, through the Zoom platform, and will be broadcast live on the Facebook page of FOGGS.
