Optical coatings are utilized in nearly every facet of daily life. The telecommunications, automotive and even architectural industries all make use of optical coating technology in some form. Smartphones, ubiquitous in everyday life, each contain multiple optical coatings.
Though by no means a simple process, a basic understanding of the optical coating manufacturing process can be accessible to all, and that is the goal of this presentation which is broken into two parts:
Part I: The Anatomy of a Coating Chamber: an overview of the facilities and components required to produce an optical coating.
Part II: The Optical Coating Practitioner’s toolbox: An introduction to optical coating process development and designing for manufacturability.
