Alex is an experienced CEO, engineer and robotics/AI scientist, with expertise in business development and building organic distribution channels. He is also a pioneer of the Open Science movement, and co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of IntechOpen, the world’s largest publisher of open access scientific books. After obtaining a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, he continued his Ph.D. studies in Robotics at the Vienna University of Technology. There, he worked as a robotics researcher within the University’s Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Group, as well as a guest researcher at various European universities, including the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). Alex published more than 20 scientific papers, gave presentations, served as a reviewer for major robotics journals and conferences, and co-founded the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, the world’s first Open Access journal in the field of robotics. Darrell an experienced digital publishing executive has been at the forefront of major industry initiatives; ie Factiva, ScienceDirect, Scopus, BiomedExperts.com, Expert Profiles, and ReviewerFinder. In his consulting practice, he has advised, many CEOs from start-ups to the very largest publishers. An innovator, he has written and lectured about mobile, semantic, and Blockchain technology to name a few of the topics.
