Rachel C. Thomas is an educator, advocate, and internationally known speaker on human trafficking and trafficking prevention whose work is largely informed by her lived experience of exploitation. Rachel is the founder of Sower's Education Group and the leader author of Ending the Game, a curriculum designed to help stop the cycle of exploitation. She is also a member of the White House Advisory Council on Human Trafficking for 2020-2022 term.
Her newest curriculum, The Cool Aunt Series, is an educational tool to teach teens about human trafficking and help the adults in their lives have those hard conversations. The Cool Aunt Series: Sex Trafficking Prevention for Teens is more than an online course, it's an experience. Using engaging and age-appropriate cinema, storytelling, lecture and questions, the series walks teens through the STREAMS of Influence-- the 7 risk factors that lead to sex trafficking: Survival, Trafficker, Recruiter, Environment, Abuse, Media, Solicitation. After the series, teens have the opportunity to self-assess their risk factors and get 1-on-1 help if needed. The Cool Aunt Experience has been called "powerful", "amazing", "fun", and "life-saving" by teens, caregivers, and anti-trafficking experts.
Join us for this webinar where Rachel will talk about prevention, her approach, and the gaps we need to fill to keep youth from exploitation.
This webinar is part of Amirah's public education program and the second in our Leadership Webinar Series, hosted by Amirah's Chief Impact Officer, Mary Speta. The Leadership Webinar Series features conversations with professionals in the anti-trafficking movement whose lived experience of exploitation informs their work and the movement at large.
