One of Don Riso’s principle contributions to Enneagram writings and teachings was his work on the Levels of Development. Russ Hudson worked with him on this teaching for over 20 years, and it became the main part of the Enneagram Institute Trainings. Many students and teachers have noted how this work brings a vertical component to Enneagram work. Thus, we are not just looking at differences between types, we are looking at how each type can blossom into its most profound gifts or get stuck in its painful defensive patterns. When Oscar Ichazo first presented the Enneagram points, he did so by describing them in terms of polarities—from the passion to the virtues, from the fixation to the Holy Idea. The Levels of Development map the journey whole range of each of the types from pathology to profound realization. They are unique in psychological maps in that they look at our capacity to be present in our lives. Higher up the levels = more capacity to be present and less stuck in fixation. In this session, we will focus on the overall sense of the levels, look at how they can be applied, and answer questions about them and their use.
After the 60 minute talk, there will be approximately 30 minutes for question and answer.
