INOVAIT is a new network with the objective of strengthening Canada’s leadership in the IGT sector by supporting and encouraging collaborative development and the integration of AI and data advances into medical technologies.

The INOVAIT network, led by Sunnybrook and supported by the Government of Canada through the Strategic Innovation Fund Program, is offering pilot funding of up to $125,000 for short-term collaborative research and development projects that end no later than March 31, 2022.

The funding is designed to encourage research and development, accelerate technology transfer and commercialization of products, facilitate the growth and expansion of firms, and advance industrial research and technology demonstration activities through collaboration and large-scale initiatives. Within this mandate, INOVAIT supports collaborative research and development projects that harness strength and diversity in artificial intelligence research and image-guided therapy product development and commercialization.

Matching funding is expected from the recipients. Larger amounts of funding will be available in future years.

This competition is open to Canadian corporations, academic institutions, and not-for-profit organizations.

Each project requires two or more Canadian partners and must actively involve at least one Canadian small and medium enterprise (SME). Funding will support industrial research, including activities related to the discovery of new knowledge that aim to support the development of new technology-driven products or services and large-scale technology demonstration, including the advancement and development of new technologies into product-specific applications.
