WEBINAR ON THE 12TH OF MAY AT 10.00-11.30 CET INCLUDING BREAK.
The vision of Riksteatern Crea is to create the best performing arts in Swedish Sign Language, with and by Deaf and signing artists and cultural workers. The process of translating a written script into a high-quality version in Sign Language for the stage, is a challenge that Riksteatern Crea has worked on to develop over the years. The methods and solutions are as many as the number of productions and the goal is to try to find the ultimate way of working. Is there an ultimate way? If so, what does it look like? The purpose of the webinar is to give cultural workers an opportunity to share experiences with each other and to discuss the challenges and opportunities they experience, about desirable resources and dream methods and what we need to do to keep the development of Sign Language as a stage language to continue.
Debbie Z. Rennie presents her work with Alice in Wonderland, 2021.
Lars Otterstedt presents his work with Romeo and Juliet at Gullbacken, 2020.
Mindy Drapsa presents her work with Home, 2019.
Filip Burman presents his work with Superheroes, 2018.
The four presenters discuss together with moderator Mette Marqvardsen the question of how we should work with Sign Language on stage
The webinar is part of the EU project ”International Sign – Connecting Deaf Performing Arts” and is therefore on International Sign, but with interpretation into Swedish Sign Language and spoken Swedish.
